Contract Architect-(Non-Civil)
Job Description
A Contract Architect is mainly deployed on –
(a) planning, designing and supervising the construction of government buildings and facilities;
(b) performing project management duties including co-ordination of project requirements, the administration of contracts and consultancy agreements in outsourced projects;
(c) providing advice on architectural and building development related issues;
(d) undertaking architectural related duties, e.g. maintenance of government buildings; and
(e) supervising and training staff. [See Note (D)]

General Notes: (a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. Candidates should –
(a) be Members of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA), or equivalent; and Registered Architects of the Architects Registration Board (ARB) of Hong Kong; and
(b) have at least three years’ relevant post-qualification experience [See Note (A)]; and
(c) have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent. [See Note (B) & (C)]

Note: (A) Candidates with less than three years’ relevant post-qualification experience may also apply for the position, but the salary offered will be adjusted with reference to their years of relevant post-qualification experience.
(B) Grade C and Grade E in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to Level 3 and Level 2 respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
(C) Candidates should obtain all the above-mentioned entry requirements on or before the closing date of application.
(D) Successful candidates may be employed by other government Bureaux/Departments.

Terms of Appointment: Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for 12 months.
Salary: HK$63,910 per month [See Note (A)]

Fringe Benefits An end-of-contract gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the full contract period with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) Scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.
