Asia Satellite Telecommunications Company Limited is a market leading company in the Asia-Pacific satellite market. We are looking for a Legal Counsel to join our Legal team.

Responsibilities:

• Reporting to the General Counsel
• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial and legal documents including customer and supplier contracts, non-disclosure agreements, letters of intent, and co-operation agreements
• Conducting KYC due diligence on business partners
• Driving legal activities for commercial and corporate transactions, M&A, joint ventures, corporate restructuring and other forms of commercial alliances and providing support to corporate business development
• Briefing internal stakeholders on new developments in regional and specific country risks and legal and compliance requirements; reviewing and updating existing internal compliance policies and procedures, manuals and guidelines in view of changing legal environment; updating Management as required
• Conducting research on various commercial and regulatory laws and regulations
• Managing dispute resolution matters and claims
• Interacting with external parties including regulatory authorities, outside counsels and other professional bodies, and counterparts of business partners
• Handling patents, trademarks, and other intellectual property matters, with outside counsel support

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Law or similar disciplines
• Qualified to practice in a Commonwealth jurisdiction including Hong Kong, UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand
• Minimum 5-8 years of post-qualification experience in private practice and/or in-house legal department.
• Some experience in the TMT sector, Asia Pacific cross-border M&A transactions preferred but not essential
• Demonstrate integrity, accountability, commitment and teamwork; ability to work independently with minimal supervision; excellent interpersonal, analytical, influencing and problem solving skills; enthusiasm with passion to learn and grow in a small team environment
• Good business acumen; ability to multi-task with attention to detail, accuracy and urgency
• Willing to work at the Tai Po Industrial Estate – free shuttle bus/parking provided
• Candidates who are immediately available or have short notice periods will be given priority
