Vice President, Technical Operations

As Vice President, Technical Operations at AsiaSat, you will lead the Technical Operations team with responsibility for overseeing the operations of the company’s satellite fleet and earth stations, teleport and customer network services.


  • Responsible for all AsiaSat satellites operations activities; including satellite normal operation, availability of satellite telecommunication services, in-orbit anomalies rectification, ground equipment of satellite control facility operation, to ensure satellite health and smooth operations and an uninterrupted satellite communication services.
  • Plan and lead satellite station keeping, transfer orbit operation, satellite drifting and end-of-life re-orbit operations
  • Ensure satellites’ in-orbit safety, and comply with international space safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Direct the development and evolution of ground systems needed by the Satellite Operations Team to manage a continuously expanding AsiaSat satellite high quality operation
  • Responsible for operation, maintenance and improvement for teleport facilities, earth station infrastructure and building management
  • Coordinate with Satellite Operation & involve in Space and Ground segment design review meetings, review test plans, specifications and procedures for new satellite program
  • Responsible for ISO27001 certified Data Center operation and expansion
  • Manage 7 x 24 teams to run satellite operations and satellite network operation center
  • Guide the team to ensure technical best practices are constantly developed and enforced


  • Bachelor degree in Science, Engineering or relevant technical disciplines from an accredited university; Master degree in engineering/operation management is preferred
  • Minimum 20 years’ experience in satellite operations and earth station operations
  • Solid experience as a Technical Lead in satellite operations and project management
  • Good understanding in orbital dynamics in supporting satellite station keeping and mission planning
  • Possess a good understanding in Cybersecurity
  • Strategic thinker, analytical, detail and results-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills and a strong work ethic
  • Multi-tasking, able to effectively manage competing priorities and work under high pressure
  • Strong leadership skill with experience in leading a team with over 40 staff, with the passion to collaborate with multiple teams
  • Responsible, willing to take initiative and to follow through on projects
  • Experience in cultivating and maintaining internal and /or external stakeholder relationships
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua)
