The Role
As a Product Developer, you will work closely with the Product Development Manager (PDM) to oversee key tasks across all bbase segments, including Own Brands, Private Label, Key Clients, and New Projects. You’ll bring your creativity and fashion expertise to the table, collaborating with sales, merchandising, and factories to ensure the development of innovative, visually compelling products. You will analyze market trends, styles, and consumer behavior to create designs that align with both brand identity and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Development Process & Sourcing
- Conduct creative research and development to inspire seasonal collections.
- Assist with monthly development briefs and execute them with a keen focus on styling and design-forward concepts.
- Source trend-driven materials, innovative match backs, and components from factories to enhance product offerings.
- Support the team with range development, ensuring designs are both creative and commercially viable.
- Attend weekly team meetings to provide updates and share creative insights on projects.
- Create visually appealing presentation and design briefs for the creative team.
- Maintain and update product cards and material information on our Brandfolder database to ensure all creative concepts are documented.
2. Client Presentations & Meetings
- Prepare and deliver client presentations, showcasing product designs, concepts, and market insights.
- Create and execute mood boards and visual references that align with client needs and market trends.
- Edit and enhance product imagery for client presentations, ensuring visuals are polished and professional.
- Finalize highly creative presentations using existing templates and collaborate with the PDM on content.
- Organize and set up product displays, pull samples, and ensure all materials are ready for client-facing meetings.
- Confidently present ideas and products to clients, articulating how they align with trends and market demands.
- Take meeting notes and distribute them to the PD/AM team.
- Assist the PDM in creating post-meeting deliverables, such as concept decks, sample sets, and client-ready materials.
3. Market & Trend Research
- Stay ahead of fashion trends, styling aesthetics, and materials, bringing an informed perspective to the team.
- Conduct market segment analysis, identifying emerging trends across Tween/Youth, Casual, Fashion, Contemporary, and Mass markets.
- Collaborate with the Trends & Forecasting team to develop Trend Reports, Quarterly Reports, and Runway Reports.
- Contribute to brainstorming sessions with the Trends & Forecasting team, bringing fresh ideas and creative styling insights.
4. Sampling
- Photograph and retouch new designs, samples, and materials with an eye for composition and styling.
- Manage sample dispatch and receipt to ensure seamless workflows.
- Input factory innovations, materials, and new components into the system.
- Collaborate closely with merchandisers and manufacturers to streamline sample development with a focus on creative innovation.
- Organize and maintain the Master Wall, ensuring all samples are displayed and accessible for reference.
- Work closely with the Product Development, Design, and Merchandising teams to ensure the smooth transition of creative concepts into tangible prototypes.
Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking a Product Developer with 2-3 years of experience in product development, preferably in eyewear or fashion-related categories. You are a creative individual with a strong sense of fashion, styling, and market trends. You:
- Have a keen eye for design, styling, and trends, with the ability to merge creativity with commercial viability to meet client needs.
- Possess a deep understanding of fashion aesthetics, color palettes, and styling principles to create products that are both innovative and on-trend.
- Are passionate about creativity, sustainability, and innovation, and bring fresh ideas to the table.
- Are self-motivated with excellent time management skills, able to prioritize and work under tight deadlines.
- Enjoy collaborating, thrive in a team environment, and are open to feedback to refine your ideas.
- Are a strong communicator, able to articulate your vision clearly and persuasively.
- Think outside the box and excel at problem-solving and creative ideation.
- Are highly skilled in Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite, with a strong visual design sense.
- Languages: Fluency in English is required; Cantonese and/or Mandarin are a plus.
Note: Candidates not suitable for the Product Developer role will be considered for Junior Product Developer.
