Legal Counsel / Senior Legal Counsel (I&I)

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide legal support to various business units of our bank including but not limited to investment products team, private banking business units and corporate banking team under the guidance of Lead Counsel
  • Provide legal advice on regulatory matters, including regulatory requirements issued by HKMA, SFC and personal data privacy issues etc.
  • Provide legal advice in relation to loan, securities, insurance and investment products (including structured products, investment funds)
  • Provide legal support in projects such as fintech/digital banking projects and industry-wise or regulatory initiatives
  • Draft/review/negotiate contracts, agreements and T&Cs
  • Provide legal assistance in complaint handling
  • Review legal documentation in relation to new products or services
  • Assist with the drafting or review of internal policies and procedures
  • Manage and work closely with external legal counsel
  • Arrange and/or provide internal legal training to business units and stakeholders

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor or above in Laws or related disciplines
  • Qualified solicitor in Hong Kong with 8-12 years of PQE
  • Banking/finance experience from a reputable law firm or legal and compliance department of banking / financial institutions; experience relating to advising on investment products and private banking will be an advantage
  • Sound knowledge in banking industry
  • A good team player and ability to work independently with excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Excellent command of written and spoken Chinese and English. Fluent in Mandarin is an advantage
