Refugee Opportunity and Development Program at Branches of Hope is a beacon of hope for over 600 refugees and non-refoulement claimants. ROAD is one of the oldest refugee programs in Hong Kong and had served over 6,000 refugees over the last decade. If you are passionate about working with refugees, consider joining our team.

This position is a full-time position reporting to the Head of ROAD. The person will work from Monday to Friday and occasionally on weekends.

ROAD Program Education and Outreach Coordinator

Post-Secondary Education Assistance Program (PSEA) 

  • Manage, develop, and enhance the Post-Secondary Education Assistance program (PSEA)
  • Liaison and develop possible collaborations and partnership with external stakeholders (i.e. institutions, corporates, authorities, professionals, etc) for the purpose of creating tertiary education opportunities for non-refoulement claimants and refugees.

Educational Programs for Adults:

  • Plan and implement in-house educational classes, seminars, workshops and online learning based on community needs, through seeking potential partnership with professionals and institutions. Ensure the conducted projects are beneficial to the non-refoulement claimants and refugees that leads to durable solutions.
  • Manage and communicate with volunteer teachers/trainers to ensure education program operations. Monitor progress and evaluate results through regular engaging with volunteers and students
  • Attending education related meetings with other NGOs in Hong Kong (Refugee Concern Network)
  • Conduct education casework to assess client individual learning and development needs. Promote education programs and recruit participants through ROAD Team collaboration.

Public Education

  • In collaboration with Partnership Team to prepare and coordinate outreach activities to schools, NGOs and corporations for the purpose of raising awareness about non-refoulement claimants and refugees
  • In collaboration with ROAD Team to organize social interaction activities for non-refoulement claimants are refugees

Job Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in social science.
  • At least 2 years’ work experience required.
  • A person with refugee background is an advantage.
  • Be able to speak at least one of the common languages among the refugees` community in Hong Kong (French, Arabic, Hindu, Urdu, etc.).
  • Self-motivated and culturally sensitive to people from diverse cultural background.
  • Good communication skills and team spirit. Patient. Having maturity and character in mentoring and building up people in different life circumstance.
  • Have good understanding of the refugee`s situation and education system in Hong Kong is an advantage.
