Job Description
Main duties of the Media Liaison Officer are: (a) To collaborate with the team members to develop comprehensive communication strategies tailor-made for target audiences; (b) To provide input on the most effective messaging, communication channels, and engagement approaches based on media landscape analysis and stakeholder feedback; (c) To help craft narratives, talking points, and other press materials for traditional media, digital media and social media; (d) To establish and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and opinion leaders to facilitate effective communication; (e) To conduct research and provide in-depth analysis on media-related topics and current affairs as assigned; and (f) To perform any other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Candidates should: (a) have a Bachelor degree from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent, preferably in the fields of arts, journalism or related disciplines; (b) have at least 5 years’ full-time post-graduate working experience in news reporting, sub-editing or research in a local or international media organization; (c) have good command of written Chinese and English; fluent Cantonese and English with basic knowledge of Putonghua; (d) good knowledge and skills in creating and designing multimedia content and be familiar with Adobe Creative Suite (e.g. InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) and video editing software. Knowledge in HTML, XML, CSS, Adobe Premiere and/or After Effects will be an advantage; and (e) be organised, attentive to details and with strong commitment to accomplish tasks under tight deadlines; and prepared to work long and irregular hours.? Note: (1) “Attained with Distinction” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade C in Other Language subjects in the HKDSEE are accepted as equivalent to Level 3 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in the HKDSEE. “Attained” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade E in Other Language subjects in the HKDSEE are accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in the HKDSEE. (2)The subjects may include Chinese Language and English Language. (3)‘Grade C’ and ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 3’ and ‘Level 2’ respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
Terms of Appointment: The successful candidate will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for 12 months and is expected to assume duty in September 2024. Renewal of contract will be subject to the service need of the Office and the performance of the candidate.
Remuneration
HKD$64,780 per month
Fringe Benefits The successful candidate will be entitled to general holidays, maternity/paternity leave and sickness allowance. For a continuous employment of 12 months, the paid annual leave entitled will be 14 days. An end-of-contract gratuity may be granted if the contract is satisfactorily completed with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. This gratuity, if granted, plus the Government’s contributions to the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.
