Our commodity trading team is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Shipping Officer to join us. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing tramp shipping operations, handling payments and claims, and managing our records database. This role requires proficiency in Excel formulas and formatting, excellent organizational skills, numerical methods, workflow management, the ability to work under pressure, and a keen eye for detail.

Responsibilities

Shipping Operations:

• Maintain accurate records for ship and cargo operations, deals, contracts, pricing, and payment settlements;

• Review operational expenses (opex) and prepare payment approval documents;

• Verify all claims incurred under charterparty and commercial contracts.

Database Management:

• Maintain records in Excel and Access databases ensuring data integrity and accuracy;

• Identify and report operational expenses incurred under charterparty and commercial contracts;

• Analyze opex and identify the root causes of exceptions;

• Generate reports and provide insights based on data analysis. 

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics or a related field;

• Previous experience in tramp shipping operations or commodity trading background is essential. Fresh graduate with relevant education background is acceptable;

• Statistics, programming and database knowledge are advantages;

• Attention to detail, strong organizational and time management skills;

• Proficiency in MS Office Application especially good command in MS Excel and MS Word.
