Responsibilities:

• Provide academic leadership in the development, implementation, review and enhancement of academic and vocational programmes/ courses, ensuring alignment with professional standards, accreditation requirements, community needs and industry trends.

• Lead departmental and programme management, including strategic planning, budgeting, resource allocation, staff coordination and operational oversight to achieve institutional objectives.

• Drive excellence in teaching and learning through high-quality teaching, curriculum development, assessment design, and the adoption of innovative pedagogical practices.

• Supervise and support student success through academic advising, project supervision, fieldwork placement coordination, student activities and holistic development initiatives.

• Oversee academic governance, quality assurance and accreditation, ensuring compliance with institutional policies, professional standards, and audit requirements.

• Lead curriculum innovation and programme development by identifying emerging market needs, developing new programme offerings, and strengthening articulation opportunities and graduate employability.

• Promote consultancy and knowledge transfer, contributing to academic excellence and the College's reputation.

• Build and sustain strategic partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, professional bodies and industry stakeholders to support teaching, fieldwork and community engagement.

• Mentor and develop academic staff, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration and continuous professional development, while undertaking other duties assigned by College Management.

Requirements:

• Registered Social Worker recognised by the Social Workers Registration Board in Hong Kong.

• Hold a Master’s degree in Social Work or related disciplines; doctoral qualification is preferred.

• At least 12 years of relevant experience, of which at least 4 years in programme administration and leadership experience (Candidates with less experience might be appointed at the rank of Senior Lecturer).

• Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese.

• Strong administrative capabilities and presentation skills; outstanding interpersonal communication competency to motivate, guide and train both teaching staff and students effectively.

• Extensive well-established professional networks within the local social work, community services and NGO sector.

• Demonstrated strong leadership competencies, with proven experience leading academic teams, driving curriculum reforms and resolving cross-functional programme challenges.

• Substantial experience in supervising student affairs, student activities and student organisations.

• Working location: YMCA College of Careers, Yau Ma Tei.
