Assistant Engineering Manager

 

The role:

  • Lead a talented team to manage the regular inspection and repair work in the workshops, overseeing key functions such as mechanical, electrical and body section

  • Drive continuous improvements strategically in efficiency, quality, and turnaround time to maintain the highest standards of workmanship

  • Monitor the daily bus availability for operational needs

  • Strategic planning the preventive and corrective maintenance work to ensure the reliability of the company’s bus fleet

  • Oversee the annual regulatory examination of the bus fleet, ensuring smooth execution and compliance with regulations

  • Collaborate closely with bus manufacturers and part suppliers, executing the recommended maintenance intervals and reinforce a cooperative relationship with them

  • Champion a culture of unwavering commitment to health and safety, engineering legislation, and company policies

  • Cultivate effective communication with colleagues to ensure seamless collaboration

  • Stay at the forefront of industry advancements, continually sharpening your engineering skills and staying ahead of the curve

  • Ensure the swift and accurate completion of engineering records, upholding a high standard of documentation

 

Skills and attributes:

  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline

  • 7+ years of experience in fleet management, vehicle engineering, or maintenance workshop operations

  • A passion for developing others to enhance overall team efficiency

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously

  • Familiarity with local regulations for Road Traffic Ordinance, type approval processes, and fleet modification programs.

  • Excellent communication skills, capable of liaising effectively with government bodies, internal teams, and external partners

  • Good command of spoken and written English & Chinese

  • Possession of Corporate Membership of a recognized professional institution is preferable
