Atmospheric scientist focuses on operational weather/air quality forecasting;
Data analysis on weather / air quality data;

Design computational model experiments and analyze results for Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP), Chemical Transport Models (CTM) and source apportionment tools;
Construct and update emission inventories based on available datasets;
Incorporate data assimilation and statistical methods to enhance model accuracy;
Visualize model outputs interactively for evaluation of atmospheric conditions;
Operate various atmospheric model simulations for weather and air quality forecasting, analysis and related applications;
Support the development and deployment of weather and air quality related products / projects;
Support routine operations of forecasting systems as well as the underlying HPC / IT infrastructures.
Master’s degree or above in Earth System Science, Physics or related disciplines, or Bachelor’s degree in the above disciplines and 1 years of working experience;
Strong background in computer programming skills;
Experience with computational environments (Linux/Unix), computer languages (Python, Fortran, etc.), and plotting and analysis tools (Python libraries: Numpy, xarray, matplotlib/Pyviz etc.) usually used for atmospheric modelling. Knowledge of GIS, C++, JavaScript or databases would be preferable;
Good understanding of atmospheric dynamics, numerical weather prediction models (WRF, MPAS), chemical transport models (CMAQ, CAMX), emission inventory tools (SMOKE), data assimilation or experience with machine learning would be an advantage;
Candidate with higher academic qualification and/or more related experience may be considered as Senior Computational Scientist;
Good logical thinking and analytical mind;
Eager to learn, responsive with a can-do attitude at work;
Willing to take up challenges;
Team player, proactive in idea sharing with good communication skills;
Good spoken and written Mandarin and/or English.
