Job Description
1823 would like to invite you to join our professional customer service team! Being different from other customer service centres, 1823 will provide you with sufficient opportunities to get familiar with the organizational structure and functions of the government as well as specialist knowledge related to different government departments. Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided to you. Working with 1823 will enable you to acquire customer service skills, enhance your ability to communicate effectively and broaden your horizon. A Part-time Customer Service Officer is required to handle enquiries and complaints from the public through phone, email, etc. The post-holder is required to work on shifts, including in the daytime and evening during weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. The post may be required to work as scheduled in the event of inclement weather such as during typhoons and black rainstorms. Successful candidates are required to assume duty at short notice and are subject to deployment to the 1823 offices in Yau Ma Tei or Cheung Sha Wan. Requirements
Candidates should - (a) have attained Level 2 or equivalent or above in five subjects including Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) (Note 1), or equivalent; or Level 2 / Grade E or above in five subjects including Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) (Note 2), or equivalent; and (b) be fluent in English and Cantonese, fluency in Putonghua is an advantage; and (c) be familiar with PC applications, including Chinese typing skill. Preference will be given to candidates with working experience in customer service. Continuous employment will be given to those who pass the post-training assessments.? Note: (1) “Attained with Distinction” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade C in Other Language subjects in the HKDSEE are accepted as equivalent to Level 3 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in the HKDSEE. “Attained” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade E in Other Language subjects in the HKDSEE are accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in the HKDSEE. (2) ‘Grade C’ and ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 3’ and ‘Level 2’ respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
Terms of Appointment: Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for a period of six months.
Remuneration
Under Training - $92 per hour; After training - $98 per hour

(4) Applications which are incomplete or late, not clear that the candidate has met the entry requirements, submitted by fax or e-mail, not duly signed by the applicants, or not made in the prescribed form [G.F. 340 (Rev.7/2023)] will not be considered. (5) Applicants who are selected for interview normally receive an invitation by email in about two to three weeks from the closing date of application. Those who are not invited for interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
