Curriculum Officer (Non-Chinese Speaking Programme) (EDB/EI/027/26)
Job Description
(a) To assist in planning and organising activities and developing resources to support the non-Chinese speaking (NCS) students in learning Chinese; (b) To take part in developing and monitoring the initiatives and activities for supporting NCS students in learning Chinese; (c) To assist in planning and organising in-service professional development programmes for teachers to facilitate the NCS students in learning Chinese; (d) To review the initiative in supporting NCS students in learning Chinese from both academic and administrative perspectives; (e) To assist in organising and conducting focus group meetings with various stakeholders to collect their views on initiatives in supporting NCS students in learning Chinese; and (f) To undertake any other duties assigned.
Requirements
(a) A Hong Kong bachelor's degree majoring in Chinese Language or Chinese Language Education, or equivalent [See Notes (1) and (2)];
(b) A certificate in education from a Hong Kong tertiary educational institution majoring in Chinese Language or Chinese Language Education, or equivalent [See Note (2)];
(c) Met the language proficiency requirements of 'Level 2' results in the two language papers [Use of Chinese (UC) and Use of English (UE)] in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE), or equivalent [See Note (3)];
(d) A pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test [See Note (5)];
(e) At least 6 years' relevant post-qualification [as specified in (a) and (b)] experience in (i) Chinese Language teaching and/or (ii) curriculum development and/or (iii) quality assurance and/or (iv) school improvement and/or (v) school support focusing on Chinese Language education [See Note (4)]; and
(f) Working experience in administrative work and project management in the Government, a higher degree (e.g. a Master or Doctoral degree) relevant to Chinese Language or Chinese Language Education, good knowledge of the local education curriculum, educational experience in training and development of teachers, curriculum and resource development and/or school support in Chinese Language teaching, research and development projects preferred [See Notes (1) and (4)].
Remuneration
$82,330 per month
Fringe Benefits (a) 18 days annual leave, whereas rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), maternity leave/paternity leave and sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance. (b) A gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the contract with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, if granted, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. (c) Other fringe benefits include medical and dental benefits and, where appropriate, housing benefits.
