Job Description
(a) To review and update the Chinese Language Education curricula, and in evaluating their implementation across primary and secondary levels; (b) To assist in and advise on planning and organisation of in-service professional development programmes for Chinese Language and Chinese Literature teachers; (c) To assist and advise in resources development on enhancing learning and teaching of Chinese Language, Chinese Literature curricula, and for Chinese learning for NCS students; (d) To develop and implement language enhancement measures, and promote Chinese language, Chinese culture and literature through the planning and organisation of language activities, and production of learning and teaching materials for students; and (e) To assist in conducting in-house staff development programme on topics related to Chinese culture and literature and undertake any other duties assigned.
Requirements
(a) A Hong Kong bachelor's degree majoring in Chinese Language, or equivalent [See Note (i)]; (b) A certificate in education from a Hong Kong tertiary educational institution, or equivalent [See Note (i)]; (c) Met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent [See Note (iii)]; (d) At least 6 years' relevant post-qualification [as specified in (a) and (b)] experience in Chinese Language teaching and/or curriculum development [See Note (ii)]; (e) Able to communicate effectively in Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua) and English, and possess good computing skills; and (f) Preference will be given to candidates who have (1) relevant experience in Chinese Language and/or Chinese Literature teaching at the secondary level; and (2) sound knowledge in classical Chinese literature; or (3) experience in implementing government policy and providing support to schools on Chinese Language Education.? Note: (i) Candidates should mark clearly on their application forms the major and minor subjects studied in their degree courses. Candidates possessing additional qualifications (e.g. qualifications stated in part of Entry Requirements) should include details in their applications. (ii) Candidates should state the nature and relevant post-qualification work experience (e.g. subjects taught, position held, experience stated in part of Entry Requirements) as well as the dates of experience. (iii) For appointment purpose, "Grade E" in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to "Level 2" in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
Terms of Appointment: Successful candidates will be employed on non-civil service contract terms for 1 year.

$485 per hour (Required to work 16 hours per week)
