We are seeking a capable Data Scientist to act as a core engine for our NLP and recommendation initiatives. You will play a critical role in optimizing our content distribution algorithms, including the recommendation feed, related article mechanisms, and "Boost" products for business monetization.

This position requires a strong blend of GenAI innovation (LLMs, RAG) and practical business application. You will work independently within the Hong Kong team, bridging technical model development with direct media and monetization business needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Core Algorithm Development: Design, build, and fine-tune machine learning models that power the company’s core products, including the main Recommendation Feed, Related Articles, and BU/Promotion Card Boosts.

• Advanced NLP & GenAI Implementation: Lead the development of Natural Language Processing solutions, utilizing Transformers, Large Language Models (LLMs), and RAG to enhance content understanding.

• Traditional Chinese Processing: Specifically optimize NLP models for Traditional Chinese (Cantonese/HK context) to ensure high relevance and accuracy in the local media market.

• Infrastructure & Deployment: Manage model training and deployment pipelines using Overseas Data Infrastructure, ensuring robust and scalable implementations.

• Business-Centric Optimization: Collaborate closely with Product, Media, and Monetization teams in Hong Kong. Translate complex business goals (e.g., ROI, Click-through rates) into technical data solutions.

• Experimentation & Analysis: Design and run rigorous A/B tests and statistical analyses to validate model improvements and present insights to non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

1. Critical Must-Haves (Non-negotiable):

• Independent Working Capability: You must be able to lead projects from conception to deployment independently. This role requires a self-starter who can define problems and execute solutions without constant supervision.

• Overseas AI/Data Infra Experience: Must have solid hands-on experience designing and maintaining AI/Data pipelines on International Cloud Platforms. (Experience limited to mainland cloud ecosystems is not sufficient for this specific role).

• Business Support Experience & Sense: Must possess strong business acumen. You need proven experience in supporting commercial/monetization goals (e.g., ad revenue, user retention) through data solutions, not just theoretical model building.

2. Technical Skills:

• Education: Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.

• NLP & AI Stack: Deep proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow). Strong command of Transformer architectures and GenAI technologies (LLMs, RAG, LangChain).

• Language Processing: Proficiency in handling Traditional Chinese NLP tasks is required.

• Experience: 3+ years of industry experience in Data Science/Machine Learning.

3. Communication:

• Excellent command of English, Cantonese and Putonghua to facilitate intensive communication with local Hong Kong business and technical teams.

Pluses (Advantageous)

• Experience in personalization strategies, feature engineering for user interest profiling, and audience segmentation.

• Experience with real-time recommendation engines or search algorithms.

• Familiarity with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
