Part-time Licensing Assistant (Enforcement)
Job Description
(i) To investigate complaints by members of the public on hotels, guesthouses, clubs, karaoke establishments, bedspace apartments and similar premises; (ii) To prepare and compile investigation reports and statements; (iii) To prepare and conduct prosecution cases including collecting site evidence, personal particulars of witnesses and suspected offenders, etc.; (iv) To carry out enforcement and prosecution duties at time and in manner as directed by senior officers; and (v) To carry out other ad hoc duties as may be assigned by senior officers. Note 1: The place of work may vary having regard to the operational needs. The position may be required to work outside normal working hours and carry out outdoor work. Note 2: The number of working hours is subject to the operational needs but in general will not exceed 16 hours per week. There is no guarantee on the minimum number of hours of work in any given period. Note 3: Location of office: Office of the Licensing Authority.
Requirements
Candidates should have – (a) completed Secondary 5 education, or equivalent; (b) attained Level 2 (Note) or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent preferred; and (c) working experience in a law enforcing agency / government department / mystery shopping preferred.? Note: 'Grade C' and 'Grade E' in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to 'Level 3' and 'Level 2' respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
Terms of Appointment: Successful candidates will be offered a 12-month employment on non-civil service contract terms.
General Notes: (a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise. Remuneration
$190 per hour
Fringe Benefits Rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), annual leave, maternity/paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be provided in line with the provisions of the Employment Ordinance (Cap. 57).

For submission in person, the application should reach the Office of the Licensing Authority of the Home Affairs Department (address provided below) by 6 p.m. of the closing date. Please specify on the envelope “Application for Part-time Licensing Assistant (Enforcement)” and the on-line application number. Late applications or applications which are incomplete or without the relevant supporting documents will not be considered. (4) Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation in about 8 to 10 weeks after the closing date for application. Those who are not invited for interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.
