The Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation (HKBCF) was set up on 8 March 2005, as a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to mitigating the threat of breast cancer to the local community through education, patient support as well as research and advocacy.

The mission of HKBCF is to:

  • Promote public awareness of breast cancer and the importance of breast health
  • Support breast cancer patients on their road to recovery
  • Advocate better breast health and breast cancer care in Hong Kong
Research Officer

Research Officers will work under the Research Manager (RM) to

  1. oversee the work performed by staff on Hong Kong Breast Cancer Registry (HKBCR). Specifically, to ensure efficient and effective data collection, and accurate production of statistics;
  2. conduct research projects.  Work includes defining research objectives and requirements, formulating research approach and carrying out analyses.
  • Most research projects involve the application of statistical skills to analyse medical/public health problems;
  • Research results are to be documented in full reports for publication in local/overseas journals, in both Chinese and English;

     3.  compile the HKBCR Annual Report;

     4.  organise seminars/conferences;

     5.  supervise and provide guidance to staff;

     6.  deliver any other duties as assigned by RM and other senior officers. 

Applicant must have

  1. a Bachelor (honours) or a higher degree from a recognised university, and completed with good grade university courses on research methodology and/or medical or healthcare related studies;
  2. at least 5 years professional experience in
  •  research work in the areas of medical and/or social investigations, with practical applications of statistical models, 
  • formulating project requirements,
  • applying statistical software to perform necessary computations from large data sets,
  • summarising and analysing results obtained from computations,
  • writing reports on research findings, in Chinese and English;

     3.  experience in managing a team of staff and perform administrative duties;

     4.  good communication ability, in Chinese and English, spoken and written. 

     5.  good knowledge of basic principles of survey sampling, and experience in organising seminars/conferences will be useful.
