We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Science & Technology:
Laboratory Officer (S&T) (Ref: 260008S)
Major Duties and Responsibilities
The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:

Preparing of the necessary materials and equipment for setting up laboratory class;

Demonstrating laboratory experiments and providing instrument training to students and laboratory users;

Assisting in set up a laboratory for teaching and research purpose;

Handling of license, purchasing orders and inventory for updating, renewal and maintaining the facilities in the laboratories;
-
Ensuring the safety and security related issues in the laboratories;
-
Providing technical support to academic staff and students; and
-
Performing any other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Candidates
Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:

A Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, with relevant post qualification experience, preferably gained in tertiary institutions;

At least 5 years of hands on experience in managing and operating electronics and electrical laboratories, including advanced use of laboratory instruments (e.g. oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies, and benchtop multimeters), as well as analog and digital circuit building, testing, and troubleshooting;

Strong practical skills in circuit construction, PCB assembly, soldering and rework, and use of standard electronic tools and test equipment;

Proven experience in microcontroller (MCU) programming and interfacing;

Proficiency in high level and/or low level programming languages relevant to embedded systems and laboratory applications;

Demonstrated experience in laboratory management, including equipment maintenance and calibration, safety compliance, inventory control, and technical support for teaching and research activities;

Willingness to provide flexible support, including occasional work during weekday evenings or weekends as required;

Strong organizational, leadership, and problem solving skills, with the ability to work independently, supervise technical staff, meet deadlines, and support multiple projects concurrently; and
-
Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese.
