We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Arts and Social Sciences:
Part-time Research Assistant I (R7043) (Ref: 24001V5)
Major Duties and Responsibilities
The appointee will assist the Principal Investigator and Co-Investigators in the research project “A longitudinal study of the impact of adverse housing conditions on the development of children living in subdivided units in Hong Kong: A mixed-method analysis” (Project: R7043). The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:
- Conducting questionnaire survey and interviews;
- Transcribing interview data;
- Providing support in literature review and data analysis;
- Writing academic reports;
- Assisting the Principal Investigator and Co-investigators to prepare experiments;
- Liaising with academic staff, student helpers, NGO workers, and other relevant parties;
- Providing ad hoc research duties on some weekends/public holidays/weekday evenings; and
- Performing any other duties as assigned to support the operation of the research project.
Candidates
Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:
- A recognised Master’s degree in social sciences;
- Experience in carrying out quantitative and qualitative research;
- Competence in computer skills (MSWord, Excel and PowerPoint, and Nvivo);
- Detail-oriented, responsible, and self-motivated;
- A high level of English and Chinese (Cantonese) proficiency and effective communication and organisation skills; and
- Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet multiple deadlines.
Terms and Conditions for Appointment
Successful candidate will be appointed on a temporary full-time contract. He/she will work for the period between October 2024 and December 2024. Benefits will be provided in accordance with the statutory provisions.
