We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Science and Technology:
Research Assistant II (R6660) (S&T) (Ref: 250014I)
Major Duties and Responsibilities
The appointee will mainly assist the research team in a research project “Establishment of Platform for Research and Omics Training in Environmental Analysis (PROTEA) in the Department of Applied Science, S&T” (R6660). He / She will be responsible mainly for the following:
- Conducting molecular biology experiments in laboratories and collecting field samples;
- Performing multi-omic bioinformatic data analysis, including genomics, transcriptomics, and metagenomics;
- Assisting with the procurement of laboratory materials and equipment;
- Supporting literature reviews and manuscript writing; and
- Performing other research activities and ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the Principal Investigator or supervisor.
Candidates
Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:
- A Bachelor's degree or above in Bioinformatics, Biology, Environmental Science, Computer Science or a related discipline;
- Familiarity with molecular techniques (e.g., DNA and RNA extraction, PCR, and gel electrophoresis);
- Knowledge in the Linux operating system and R programming language, with preferred experience in analyzing genomic and transcriptomic data;
- Strong sense of responsibility, self-motivated, and excellent interpersonal skills; and
- Proficiency in English and Chinese, including Putonghua.
