We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Science and Technology:
Student Advising Coordinator (SEN) (at the rank of Lecturer) (S&T) (Ref: 2500287)
Major Duties and Responsibilities
The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:
- Providing academic advising, training and support to students, especially those with special educational needs;
- Providing student support to ensure students with reasonable accommodation in learning;
- Organising local and overseas exchange and other student activities;
- Enhancing academic support and serving as Class Mentor;
- Implementing scholarship programme;
- Assisting with student admission, organization of workshop and conferences;
- Performing any other duties as assigned by the Dean of School of Science and Technology or his / her nominee(s).
Candidates
Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:
- A higher degree in any discipline;
- Relevant qualifications and experience in student advising, particularly with students who have special educational needs;
- Sound knowledge and experience in managing students' mental distress and facilitating their personal development;
- Sound knowledge of techniques to address learning difficulties, and with the ability to deliver specialised instruction to address student needs;
- Strong sense of responsibility, effective organisation, interpersonal and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently under pressure; and
- Proficiency in English and Chinese (including Putonghua).
