We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Science and Technology:
Temporary Laboratory Officer/ Laboratory Assistant (S&T) (Ref: 25000G5)
Major Duties and Responsibilities
The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:
- Preparing the necessary materials and equipment for setting up laboratory class;
- Demonstrating laboratory experiments and providing analytical instrument training to students and laboratory users;
- Assisting in handling of license, purchasing orders and inventory for updating, renewal and maintaining the facilities in the laboratories;
- Providing technical support to academic staff and students;
- Ensuring the safety and security related issues in the laboratories; and
- Performing any other duties as assigned by supervisors.
Candidates
Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:
- A Higher Diploma or above in Applied Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Food Science, Environmental Science, or a related discipline;
- At least 2 years’ relevant experience;
- Experience in operating and performing maintenance for instruments would be an advantage;
- Detail-oriented, hardworking, responsible, able to meet deadlines and can work independently; and
- Excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese.
Applicants with less relevant experience may be considered for appointment as Temporary Laboratory Assistant.
Terms and Conditions for Appointment
Successful candidate will be appointed on a temporary full-time contract. Benefits will be provided in accordance with the statutory provisions.
