Temporary Research Assistant II (S&T) (Ref: 2500171)

We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Science and Technology:

Temporary Research Assistant II (S&T) (Ref: 2500171)

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee(s) will mainly assist the research team in research project “Wider Application of Eco-shoreline in Hong Kong” and “Towards Sustainable Lobster Cultivation in Hong Kong: Development of a Standard Operating Procedure Utilizing Biofouling as an Eco-friendly Feed Source”.  He / She will be responsible mainly for the following:

  • Assisting in the design, fabrication and implementation of lobster farming experiments to be conducted in fish rafts;
  • Assisting with field and laboratory analyses to determine the growth, health, nutritional value of farmed animals; 
  • Assisting in field surveys to determine seasonal patterns of fouling species encountered in fish rafts;
  • Carrying out other research tasks as instructed by the Principal Investigator; and
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by the Dean of School of Science and Technology or his/her nominee. 

Candidates

Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:  

  • A Bachelor’s degree or above in Marine Science or a related discipline;
  • At least two years of relevant experience in marine ecology, eco-engineering or equivalent research qualifications; and
  • Experience in field and laboratory work, data analysis, report writing and scientific manuscript preparation.

Terms and Conditions for Appointment

Successful candidate(s) will be appointed on a temporary full-time contract.  Benefits will be provided in accordance with the statutory provisions.
