Vegan Chef / Assistant Chef

Sustainable Living Department

We are seeking a passionate and creative Vegan Chef to join our team of Eat Well Programme. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in plant-based cooking, a flair for presentation, and a strong commitment to quality and sustainability. Reporting to the Head Chef, he or she will work primarily at Eat Well Canteen and occasionally at two other at catering premises of Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden (KFBG)*.

KFBG has three catering premises at Eat Well Canteen (Green Hub, Wan Tau Kok Lane, Tai Po); Eat Well Café (Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden, Lam Kam Road) and Food Hub (HKU Kadoorie Centre, Shek Kong).

Key Responsibilities include:

·        Plan, prepare, and present high-quality vegan dishes

·        Develop creative and seasonal menu items

·        Ensure food quality, hygiene, and safety standards are met

·        Manage kitchen inventory and minimize food waste

·        Collaborate with the programme team to enhance the dining experience

 Requirements

·        Proven experience as a chef, preferably in vegan or plant-based cuisine

·        Strong knowledge of nutrition and plant-based ingredients

·        The candidate with less experience will be considered as an Assistant Chef

·        Creativity and passion for culinary innovation

·        Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

·        Excellent teamwork and communication skills

·        Proficiency in both English and Cantonese

·        Computer literacy and familiar with MS operations

·        Holder of valid certificate of hygiene manager or hygiene supervisor, and/or driving licence, are advantage

·        Essential to work on Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays, and on shift-duty outside normal working hours occasionally

• Open minded and recognize the validity of all spiritual paths

• Valid Type I or II driving license is an advantage
