The Role

Kaplan Hong Kong is seeking a qualified and experienced independent contractor to provide instructional and academic support services for our Financial Risk Manager (FRM®) examination preparation programs. This engagement is ideal for industry practitioners and professional educators with strong expertise in financial risk management and professional certification training. 

Scope of Services 

The selected contractor will be engaged to: 

• Deliver high-quality FRM examination preparation classes in face-to-face, online, or hybrid formats.

• Prepare, review, and update instructional materials, case studies, practice questions, and mock examinations.

• Facilitate participant learning through interactive discussions, workshops, and examination-focused guidance.

• Provide academic coaching, mentoring, and constructive feedback to learners.

• Evaluate learner progress and recommend strategies to enhance examination readiness.

• Contribute subject matter expertise to support curriculum enhancement and program improvement initiatives.

• Remain current with developments in financial risk management, banking regulations, quantitative analysis, and financial markets. 

Desired Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should possess:

• A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Risk Management, Accounting, or a related discipline. A Master's degree is preferred.

• FRM certification awarded by the Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP), or comparable professional credentials such as CFA, CAIA, or CPA.

• Demonstrated experience delivering FRM, CFA, or other professional certification preparation courses.

• Strong knowledge of quantitative risk analysis, financial markets, and risk management practices.

• At least five years of relevant professional industry experience in one or more of the following areas:  

  • Financial Risk Management

  • Banking

  • Asset Management

  • Treasury or Market Risk

  • Regulatory Risk and Compliance 

Skills and Competencies 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Excellent presentation, facilitation, and communication skills.

• Fluency in spoken and written Cantonese and English.

• Ability to explain complex financial concepts in a practical and accessible manner.

• Strong online teaching and virtual classroom management skills.

• Commitment to learner success and professional educational standards.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and learning management systems. 

Engagement Terms 

• Engagement Type: Independent Contractor / Freelance Subject Matter Expert

• Location: Hong Kong Island and/or Online-Hybrid Delivery

• Flexibility: Flexible scheduling and delivery arrangements are available for suitable candidates.

• Contractual Relationship: This engagement is offered on an independent contractor basis. The contractor will not be considered an employee of Kaplan Hong Kong and will be responsible for their own tax, insurance, and statutory obligations as required by applicable laws.
