Research Assistant-(Non-Civil)
Job Description
Main duties of the Research Assistant are:
(a) to assist in conducting research on welfare and labour policies which involves review of literature, designing, administering and monitoring of research studies, analysing and reporting data (both qualitative and quantitative) gathered from surveys, interviews, and other sources, preparing research reports and records;
(b) to arrange and coordinate internal and external meetings with collaborative partners including researchers and other stakeholders;
(c) to perform office administrative work; and
(d) to perform any other duties as and when required.

General Notes: (a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(g) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. They should submit copies of their official transcripts and certificates by mail to the below contact address.
Candidates should:
(a) have a Bachelor’s degree from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent. Postgraduate qualification in the fields of social policy, sociology, politics and public administration or related disciplines would be an advantage;
(b) have at least three years of relevant full-time working experience, preferably in conducting research projects in the Government, academic or research institutions, think tanks[See Note (1) ];
(c) have excellent writing proficiency in English and Chinese, with Level 3 or above in English Language and Chinese Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination or in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent [See Note (2)];
(d) have good knowledge in statistics and hands on experiences in using data analytic tools including Excel, SPSS, and NVivo; and
(e) be self-motivated, responsible, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with good organizational and interpersonal skills.

Note: (1) Candidates should state in detail their work and research experience in the application form.
(2) For non-civil service appointment purpose, ‘Grade C’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 3’ in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.

Terms of Appointment: The successful candidate will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms up to 30 June 2022. Immediate availability is preferred.
Salary: HK$31,750 - $44,555 per month, depending on qualifications and experience

Fringe Benefits In addition to general holidays, maternity/paternity leave and sickness allowance, 14 days’ paid annual leave will be granted under a continuous contract of employment for every 12 months. For contract period less than 12 months, the annual leave will be calculated on a pro-rata basis, subject to the provisions of Employment Ordinance (Cap.57). An end-of-contract gratuity may be granted if the contract is satisfactorily completed with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. This gratuity, if granted, plus the Government’s contributions to the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.
