What You'll Do

We are looking for enthusiastic people to join our scientific support team. We are passionate about bringing cutting-edge and affordable solutions to the scientists, helping Hong Kong move forward in the life sciences sectors.

Your day-to-day life will be focusing on  providing guidance on biological education, applications, troubleshooting and product selection to respond to our clients’ scientific and technical needs. 

As a Field Application Specialist, you will also be working closely with other highly qualified professionals in our sales team, as well as providing trainings to other team members in the company. 


More specifically, you will:

1. On-site technical support and problem solving 

• On-site troubleshooting: Go to a customer's lab or workplace to quickly locate equipment failures, software issues, or experimental anomalies (e.g., instrument calibration errors, data analysis deviations).  
   
• Real-time technical guidance: Demonstrate how to use our product (e.g., use of Stemcell Isolation Kits, Lonza Nuceofector, etc) at the customer's site to ensure that the customer applies the technology correctly.
   
• Emergency Response: Deal with urgent technical issues (e.g., equipment downtime during critical phases of the experiment) and provide temporary solutions to minimize customer losses.

2. Customer training and knowledge transfer

• Customized training: Design and implement on-site training (e.g., new equipment operation, advanced software features) according to customer needs.
• Technical Seminars & Demos: Demonstrate product benefits at customer sites or industry conferences, and increase customer confidence through hands-on demonstrations (e.g., performance against competitors).
• Case sharing: Combine with specific customer projects to share successful application cases in similar scenarios (such as the optimization of the clinical validation process of a cancer detection reagent).
• Internal training and seminars: Speak at company internal trainings and sales team seminars to share technical knowledge and practical experience.

3. Customer demand insight and feedback

• Demand generation: Through on-site communication, identify potential needs that are not clearly expressed by customers (such as the need to automate experimental processes).
• Product Improvement Recommendations: Translating customer feedback into technical language to drive the R&D team to optimize the product (e.g., suggesting additional device compatibility).
• Competitive product analysis: Observe the pain points of customers using other brand products and refine the differentiated advantages of their own products.

4. Sales & Marketing Support

• Pre-sales technical consultation: accompany the sales team to visit customers, answer technical questions, and assist in formulating solutions.
• Product Validation Experiments: Verify product performance at customer sites (e.g., testing of new reagents in customer samples) and provide data to support sales.
• Customer Success Case Packaging: Collect field application data and assist the marketing department in producing promotional materials (e.g., a report on the improvement of diagnostic efficiency of equipment used in a hospital).
• Provide Internal Training: Conduct internal training sessions for the sales team to enhance their technical understanding and sales capabilities.

5. Cross-departmental collaboration and project management

• Project implementation support: Participate in the implementation of customized projects (e.g. building laboratory automation systems) and coordinate resources to ensure on-time delivery.
• Technology trends and customer relationship maintenance
• Industry dynamics tracking: Focus on new technologies in the field (such as spatial transcriptomics, AI-assisted diagnosis), and recommend upgrade solutions to customers.
• Long-term relationship building: Maintain key customers and increase loyalty through regular return visits, holiday greetings, and more.
• Customer satisfaction management: Collect field service feedback to optimize support processes (e.g., reduce response times).

Typical work scenarios

• Commissioning of equipment: Installation of new cell isolation equipment at the lab site to train researchers how to use the technique.
• Pharmaceutical research support: Optimize the operating parameters of high-throughput screening platforms in pharmaceutical laboratories to improve compound detection efficiency.

Requirements

• Must have PHD in biochemistry, biomedical sciences, molecular biology, cell biology, chemistry or other related science background
• Excellent in speaking and writing in English, Mandarin and Cantonese
• At least 1 year working experience
• Technical expertise: In-depth understanding of product technical principles (e.g., nucleofection working principle, cell isolation, protein purification etc).
• Communication & Influence: Good at building trust with customers from different backgrounds (scientists, engineers, managers).
• Adaptability: Rapid decision-making in high-pressure environments (e.g., temporary solutions in the event of equipment failure in the middle of an experiment).
• Business sensitivity: Balance technical goals with real-world constraints such as customer budgets and time constraints.
