PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT

ENGAGEMENT AND INTERACTION – SCHOOL AMBASSADOR TO INTERNAL COMMUNITY

To fulfil the requirements of the post, the Drama Teacher will demonstrate essential professional characteristics, and in particular will:

  • Develop new initiatives for pupil engagement and participation.

  • Deliver English National Curriculum and Drama.

  • Contribute resources and materials to the department.

  • Attend meetings and acting upon information provided.

  • Respond to day to day issues within the curriculum area, constantly display professionalism and use initiative along with a commitment to the departments’ improvement plan.

  • Work collaboratively and share good practice with staff.

  • Ensure there is an understanding of syllabus/course selection, pupil exam/assessment entries and this is implemented into teaching practice.

  • Contribute to school events and enrichment activities.

  • Lead and innovate in curriculum development and co-curricular initiatives.

  • Foster parental engagement through high quality reporting and timely progress feedback.

TEACHING & LEARNING

Area of Responsibility and key tasks:

  • Monitor and improve the quality of teaching & learning.

  • Ensure all pupils are working towards achieving the necessary progress in line with NAE and global benchmarks.

  • Provide a secure and engaging learning environment.

  • Deliver learning that is appropriate to the English National Curriculum & exam board criteria.

  • Work to achieve whole school departmental development plan priorities.

  • Proactively ensure that learning is taking place according to the expectations of the department and school policies.

  • Work to endeavour that all pupils make progress according to the international standards by providing a supportive and engaging learning environment.

  • Work alongside other department colleagues and the school leadership members to achieve identified objectives.

  • Promote a stimulating and inspiring learning environment that ensures the engagement and active participation of pupils.

  • Develop teaching and learning and related pedagogies within the curriculum area.

  • Monitor the progress of pupils and act upon this information in setting appropriate targets and interventions.

  • Deliver engaging and effective learning experiences.

  • Maintain high standards for pupil achievement and classroom conduct.

  • Promote problem-solving, creativity, and design thinking across all pupil abilities.

  • Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.

  • Employ data-informed, differentiated teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs.

  • Integrate ICT tools effectively into teaching and support digital learning.

  • Act as a Form Tutor and contribute to the implementation of the English National Curriculum.

Pastoral Duties

  • Establish a purposeful and safe learning environment for all pupils;

  • Promote the general progress and wellbeing of individual pupils and act as a Form Tutor to a group of pupils.

  • Contribute to the preparation of action plans;

  • Support appropriate policies relating to pastoral responsibilities;

  • Communicate effectively with parents, liaising with staff as appropriate;

  • Contribute to school-based programmes which develop the whole pupil.

PLANNING AND PREPARATION

  • Plan effective teaching programmes which provide exemplary learning and opportunities within and beyond the classroom;

  • Positively target and support individual learning needs.

  • Take responsibility for developing and implementing schemes of work and lesson plans in line with the requirements of the curriculum and school policies.

  • Develop short-, medium- and long-term plans in line with curriculum objectives.

  • Ensure rigorous assessment to provide effective and timely feedback to pupils.

  • Evaluation of curriculum programmes, maps, and lesson plans

Tracking, Assessment, Recording, Reporting

  • Make effective use of formative and summative assessment to plan challenging learning opportunities for all pupils;

  • Monitor and record pupils’ learning to ensure they remain on track to achieve challenging targets;

  • Report on departmental performance and progress to appropriate stakeholders.

  • Evaluation of curriculum programmes, maps, and lesson plans

PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Continual development through the identification and implementation of your own Personal and Professional Development Plan

PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS

  • Qualified to Bachelor of Education or appropriate Degree with PGCE in relevant Drama subject

  • Qualified Teacher Status

  • Drama background or similar qualification and experience

  • Minimum of 2 years’ teaching experiences

  • Knowledge of the English National Curriculum and related subject knowledge

  • Knowledge of assessment and reporting procedures

  • Knowledge of associated examination arrangements

  • Hold a current Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure for all countries lived in

  • Compliance with visa requirements for working in Hong Kong. 

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils, and a willingness to undertake appropriate international safeguarding training as part of our child protection policies when required.

  • The ability to integrate technology into the classroom experience to enhance and extend the learning of pupils 

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint for producing reports and presentations.

  • Good cross-cultural, interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse nationalities and cultures.

  • Excellent analytical skills – with the passion and drive to demonstrate and quantify success.
