PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Leadership & Control Environment:

• Plan and oversee comprehensive audits of operational processes to assess the effectiveness of internal controls, operational efficiencies, and strict compliance with all corporate policies, procedures, and international regulations.
• Define and restructure the organizational framework for the audit function to support the exponential growth of the diamond category, ensuring the team possesses the niche technical skills required for global diamond valuation and regulatory adherence.
• Recommend revisions and/or additions to policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to improve operational workflows and strengthen the internal control environment.

Operational & Financial Compliance (Banking & Trade):

• Direct the management and execution of banking facilities and financial reviews with various financing bodies.
• Oversee the audit and compliance frameworks for the Company’s import and export operations of both rough and polished diamonds, ensuring all cross-border transactions align with local and international trade laws.
• Support the Director by performing in-depth financial analysis and conducting special projects related to high-value inventory movement and capital management.

Process Engineering & Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Strategize and collaborate with cross-functional leaders (Merchandising, Supply Chain, Finance) to identify operational bottlenecks and develop sustainable, concise programs to resolve complex audit and compliance challenges.
• Ensure the timely and accurate completion of the annual audit plan while managing the documentation of all audit plans, work papers, findings, reports, and follow-up remediation efforts.
• Respond to ad hoc requests to address control issues on new business processes and provide consultative services to management regarding risk mitigation.

Global Vendor & Supply Chain Execution (Audit Focus):

• Support the merchandising and procurement teams by auditing the end-to-end execution from international mines and cutting centers to the Company’s inventory, ensuring SOP compliance and asset protection.
• Partner with overseas suppliers and banking partners to analyze current business trends in the international diamond market, assessing geopolitical and economic impacts on the Company’s financial and operational risk profile.
• Identify gaps in current compliance protocols and implement new auditing frameworks to secure supply chain integrity in key areas of strategic need.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS (NON-NEGOTIABLE):

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• Industry Experience: 8+ years of MANDATORY experience in Internal Audit and SOP management. Crucially, applicants must have considerable, demonstrable experience auditing in Rough Diamonds and Polished Diamonds environments for compliance with applicable regulations, internal control regimes, and development frameworks. Applicants without direct diamond auditing experience will not be considered.
• Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of banking operations, import/export financial documentation, and inventory valuation specific to the gemstone industry.
• Strategic Acumen: Robust business acumen with the ability to see the "big picture" while solving for complex, strategic objectives and regulatory disruptions.
• Management Experience: At least 5 years of supervisory or project management experience, with the ability to lead and mentor a team of audit professionals.

CRITICAL LANGUAGE & REGIONAL EXPERTISE:

• Must effectively communicate in English and Hindi in both written and oral forms.
• Fluency in a native-level Indian Dialect (e.g., Gujarati or Marwari) is PREFERRED to manage key overseas vendor and banking relationships.

• Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills; ability to make timely, effective, fact-based decisions under pressure.
• Must be able to work well with a variety of personalities and balance multiple work priorities.
• Willingness to accept flexible working hours to align with international time zones (specifically India and global diamond exchanges) and work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays as required.
