ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a design-savvy WordPress Assistant to partner with our Lead Designer. This is a hybrid creative role: you will build websites and help create the visual assets that go on them.
This is not a typical "pixel-pushing" role where you simply trace high-fidelity mockups. Instead, we work in an agile "Design in Browser" workflow. You will be given conceptual drafts (from Stitch), visual references, and UX guidelines, and your job is to bring them to life directly in Elementor.
You will also be responsible for occasional photography tasks, ensuring our websites are populated with original, high-quality imagery rather than generic stock photos.
If you enjoy the freedom of making design decisions and have a knack for capturing great visuals, this role is for you.
RESPONSIBILITIES
📝 RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Web Design & Build (70%)
● Translate wireframes and visual references into responsive WordPress pages using Elementor Pro.
● Interpret UX requirements to build sections that function well and look great.
● Make real-time design decisions (typography, whitespace, responsiveness) without needing a pixel-perfect mockup.
● QA: Test layouts on mobile/tablet and use custom CSS to fix styling issues where Elementor falls short.
2. Photography & Visual Assets (30%)
● Capture original photos for website use (team headshots, office culture, product shots).
● Perform photo editing (Lightroom/Photoshop) to match the brand style (color correction, cropping).
● Create basic visual assets (banners, featured images) using Photoshop or Canva.
3. Site Structure & Maintenance
● Assist in setting up Custom Post Types (CPT) and dynamic templates.
● Maintain the design system (Global Colors, Fonts).
● Keep the site healthy (plugin updates, backups, and speed optimization).
REQUIREMENTS
● Must-have: Strong proficiency in WordPress & Elementor (You build fast and clean).
● Must-have: Good Eye for Design. Since we don't use high-fi mockups like Figma, you need to understand what "good design" looks like (Visual Hierarchy, Whitespace, Alignment).
● Must-have: Basic HTML/CSS knowledge (to tweak layouts).
● Must-have: Competent Photography skills. You should understand composition, lighting, and how to take photos that look good on a web layout.
● Must-have: Basic Photo Editing proficiency (Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, or high-level Canva usage).
● Preferred: Access to your own camera gear (DSLR/Mirrorless) is a plus, but a high-end smartphone with strong photography skills may be acceptable for quality content.
● Preferred: Experience working from rough drafts, mood boards, or reference sites.
● Mindset: Self-starter who can take a concept and run with it, rather than waiting for pixel-perfect instructions.
Who we are looking for: Current university students (Year 3-4) or fresh graduates with a strong portfolio are welcome. We value your skills and eye for design over years of corporate experience.
