About the Role
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Associate Accounting Manager to lead our General Ledger team. In this role, you will not only ensure the accuracy and timeliness of month-end closing but also drive continuous improvement in accounting processes and system implementation. You will play a key role in bridging the gap between finance and operations, while supervising daily activities of the GL team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Month-End Closing & Financial Reporting
Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with IFRS/local GAAP and Hong Kong Companies Ordinance.
Review and prepare journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and fluctuation analysis; provide coaching and feedback to enhance quality.
Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting issues.
2. Audit & Compliance
Serve as the key contact for statutory audits; liaise with external auditors, controllers, and other finance stakeholders to ensure smooth audit execution.
Support internal control testing and remediation efforts in collaboration with the compliance team.
3. System & Process Improvement
Partner with IT and finance transformation teams in ERP (e.g., SAP/Oracle/NetSuite) implementation and enhancement projects to meet internal control and reporting requirements.
Identify bottlenecks in current accounting workflows and drive process standardization and automation to improve efficiency and scalability.
Document and maintain SOPs to ensure consistency and knowledge retention within the team.
4. Team Leadership & Operational Support
Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of GL accountants; allocate resources effectively to meet deadlines and priorities.
Act as an escalation point for complex accounting or operational issues; work with internal stakeholders (e.g., product, engineering, sales operations) to drive end-to-end resolution.
Support the Finance Manager in ad-hoc projects and system rollouts as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree or above in Accounting, Finance, or related disciplines.
Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in accounting or audit, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or team lead capacity.
Strong knowledge of the Hong Kong Companies Ordinance, HKFRS, and local statutory filing requirements is essential.
Hands-on experience with full set of accounts and managing Hong Kong statutory audits is a must.
Experience with ERP system implementation (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) is a distinct advantage.
Proactive problem solver with a continuous improvement mindset; able to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Excellent command of written and spoken English; proficiency in Cantonese and Mandarin is preferred.
