Duties
The appointee will be required to:
(a) perform project management, system design, development, testing, maintenance and support of administrative applications for units of the University;
(b) perform enhancement of applications developed by Java J2EE, ReactJS, Redux, Node.js, Express.js, RESTful, Git, Javascript, JQuery;
(c) liaise with users on the collection and analysis of system requirements;
(d) oversee and manage the technological needs to fulfill the business requirement and technical solution feasibility;
(e) conduct “AI Readiness” audits upon unit request to identify high-impact areas for automation and process re-engineering across units, and integrate AI use cases into existing applications;
(f) monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues, work with network, infrastructure and service sections on technical issues;
(g) assist the supervisor in the planning, technical evaluation and implementation of system development tools and methodology, particularly on adopting new technology to revitalize legacy system;
(h) manage systems with outsourced solutions; and
(i) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Office or his delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
(a) a recognised degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a computing related discipline with at least seven years of relevant experience;
(b) experience in using IDE and code agent to conduct code review and improve quality of deliverables;
(c) capability to parse out coding work into different tasks and leverage coding agent to improve turnaround and inspect agent output to address faults and performance issues;
(d) solid hands-on programming experience in the implementation, maintenance, and migration of enterprise applications using J2EE and Jakarta EE frameworks, Java, Spring / Spring Boot, ReactJs, NodeJS, and relational database such as Oracle RDBMS 19c, MSSQL or MySQL;
(e) experience in the development of application Restful API over NodeJs and Container environments; preferably with knowledge of JavaScript library/framework (e.g. Redis, NextJs, ReactJs, NestJs, ExpressJs, NodeJs);
(f) experience in the application integration with Azure Active Directory, and enablement of application Single-Sign-On and Multi-Factor Authentication features;
(g) strong analytical skills, good interpersonal and communication skills to work with users at different levels; and
(h) proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese, preferably with fluency in Putonghua.
Preference will be given to those with substantial experience in developing and implementing university administrative systems using short cycle development methodology.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
