[The appointee will provide administrative support for the establishment of a new academic unit (“Unit”) and its academic programmes. The appointee will be transferred to the Unit upon its establishment.]
Duties
The appointee will be required to:
(a) provide executive support to the Dean of Faculty and/or Head of Unit in managing the day-to-day operations, facilitating changes in a dynamic working environment, and supporting a wide range of operational activities related to academic programmes, research administration, quality assurance, finance and budgeting, human resources, space issues, partnership and marketing, etc.;
(b) assist the Dean of Faculty and/or Head of Unit in planning and implementing the Unit’s strategic plan and initiatives as well as developing high-level reports, publications and audio-visual materials;
(c) lead and organise assorted scholarly activities;
(d) provide secretarial services to senior management, various committees, task forces and working groups;
(e) supervise and coach supporting staff to achieve operational effectiveness and facilitating their continuous professional development;
(f) liaise with the internal University departments, external organisations, students and graduates; and
(g) perform any other duties as assigned by the Dean of Faculty and/or Head of Unit or their delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
(a) a recognised degree or above;
(b) at least eight years of solid administrative and supervisory experience in a dynamic management environment, preferably related to academic programme administration and academic staffing matters in tertiary education institutions;
(c) a strategic mind-set with excellent analytical, problem-solving, organisational and multi-tasking skills;
(d) proactivity, flexibility and professionalism, with the ability to work independently and under pressure to meet tight deadlines;
(e) strong leadership qualities as both a team leader and team player; and
(f) excellent computer literacy, communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
