The Health, Safety and Environment Office Laboratory (HSEO Lab) is the analytical support section of the Health, Safety and Environment Office (HSEO) of HKUST. Being a HOKLAS and AIHA-accredited laboratory, we are capable of conducting sample analyses related to environmental and occupational health compliance and monitoring purposes for the HKUST community.
The appointee will have to perform duties including but not limited to the following:
- Conducting environmental sampling and providing support to occupational hygiene sampling; performing analyses on environmental, occupational hygiene samples and research samples;
- Performing calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment;
- Purchasing chemicals and supplies related to the instrument and inspecting the received goods;
- Preparing laboratory documents according to the needs of the laboratory;
- Implementing the quality management system of the laboratory which is based on ISO/IEC 17025 standards.
Applicants should have a bachelor's degree in chemistry or relevant disciplines, preferably with at least 1-2 years of work experience. Experience in Hong Kong Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (HOKLAS) and analytical instruments (e.g., GC/FID, GC/MS, HPLC, IC, ICP/OES, ICP/MS) is highly desirable. They should demonstrate multi-tasking skills and possess sound knowledge of MS Office applications. A good command of spoken and written English and Chinese is essential. The ideal candidate should be a good team player with a strong sense of responsibility, self-motivated, attentive to details and work independently. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
