Established in 2009, the State Key Laboratory (SKL) (https://skl-molneurosci.hkust.edu.hk/) of Molecular Neuroscience at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is a leading research center dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge and fostering innovation in molecular neuroscience. We are seeking an experienced professional to develop strategies and oversee projects that will enhance the SKL’s position and reputation within the broader community, as well as facilitate the smooth implementation of major initiatives at the SKL.
Reporting to the SKL Director and Associate Directors, the Senior Manager will play a key role in managing the SKL. The appointee is expected to:
- Oversee and manage all administrative aspects of the SKL.
- Coordinate with project teams reporting to the SKL to ensure quality execution and alignment of goals.
- Manage budgets and monitor the operating expenses of the SKL.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans and progress reports.
- Identify potential projects of interest for the SKL, actively seek funding opportunities, and stay updated on relevant government grant programs.
- Engage with stakeholders from various sectors, including government authorities, industry partners, research collaborators, and institutions from local, mainland and overseas regions to foster collaborations.
- Lead publicity efforts and plan activities and events to support the brand-building of the SKL.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)
The successful candidate is expected to possess:
- A bachelor's degree and at least 10 years of relevant post-qualification work experience, preferably in a research or academic setting.
- Strong event management, organizational and interpersonal skills
- The ability to perform multiple tasks within defined timeline
- The capability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Excellent command of spoken and written English and Chinese (both Cantonese and Putonghua)
- Experience engaging with stakeholders in the public sector, along with knowledge of biomedical and/or biotechnology development in Hong Kong and Mainland, will be a definite advantage.
- Familiarity with scientific research processes and terminology is a plus.
- Candidates with less experience may be considered for a “Manager” position.
(Duration: 2 years, with a possibility of renewal)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
