The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering is inviting applications for up to two short-term Teaching Associate positions to assist in the development of an undergraduate course with non-traditional pedagogy.
The appointees will be mainly responsible for developing course materials for the undergraduate course Integrated Chemical Process and Product Design. They are expected to work with the course instructors to prepare online teaching materials (including PowerPoint slides, reading materials, lecture videos and assessment tools) and hands-on in-class experiences (including design and execution of experiments, prototyping, data acquisition and analysis) as part of a guided design project.
Applicants should have a master’s or PhD degree in chemical engineering, bioengineering, or similar disciplines. They should have coursework and/or work experience in chemical/biological process and product design, and be passionate about innovative engineering education. Ideal candidates are expected to possess a demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication, including the ability to write, edit and proofread highly technical teaching materials. Relevant wet-lab skills, information literacy skills, interpersonal skills, organization skills and time management skills are critical. Skills related to the development of online and multimedia learning resources, such as computer graphics, video editing, and e-learning platforms, are desirable. (Duration: 3 - 5 months)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including medical benefits and paid leave will be provided where applicable.
