Established by the Hong Kong Government in 1989, The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK) today has developed into a young, dynamic, innovative, full-fledged university comprising 6 Schools.

OUHK began offering full-time programmes since 2001 and joined the Joint University Programmes Admission System (JUPAS) since 2007. Currently, the University offers about 200 programmes of studies with over 10,000 full-time and 9,000 part-time students in its 5 Schools namely School of Arts and Social Sciences, Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration, School of Education and Languages, School of Nursing and Health Studies and School of Science and Technology. In addition, there are about 2,000 full-time and 3,000 part-time students studying in Li Ka Shing School of Professional and Continuing Education (LiPACE).

We are now inviting application(s) for the following post(s) in the School of Arts and Social Sciences:

Part-time Research Assistant (Ref. No: 2000049)

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee shall assist the Principal Investigator in the research project.  He/She will be required to assist in:

  • conducting a literature review and related responsibilities of the project;
  • data analysis and preparation for presentations and publications; and
  • any other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator.

 

Requirements

Applicants are expected to possess the following qualifications, experience and attributes:

  • a recognized Bachelor’s degree or above in Social Sciences, such as political science, public administration, global studies, economics, psychology, anthropology;
  • good communication skills in English and Chinese;
  • good computer skills;
  • effective organization skills;
  • a strong sense of responsibility and be able to work independently; and
  • experience in conducting qualitative data analysis will be an advantage.

 

Compensation Package

Successful candidate will be appointed on a temporary part-time contract.  He/She shall be required to work not more than 17 hours per week during the period of his/her appointment which will be from February 2020 to July 2020.  Benefits will be provided in accordance with the statutory provisions.  The work schedule shall be agreed between the appointee and the Principal Investigator.
