Summer Intern
Job Description
Summer intern is mainly deployed – (a) to assist in daily operations and compilation of annual cash-based accounts / accrual-based accounts of the government; (b) to assist in the daily operations, reconciliation and compilation of statistics of special projects; (c) to assist in system development ground work, including preparation of user acceptance tests and setting up a database for past records; (d) to assist in conducting compliance checking on accounting operations in government bureaux/departments; (e) to assist in management accounting related duties; (f) to assist in research work on accounting standards and policies; and (g) to handle other clerical and administrative support duties.
Requirements
Applicants should- (a) be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region; (b) be students studying full-time programmes offered by post-secondary institutions; (c) be a full-time Year 2 student under 3-year curriculum or a fulltime Year 3 student under 4-year curriculum of an undergraduate programme, studying in the stream of Accountancy or Finance; (d) have not yet completed their final year of study before the internship period commences; (e) have good accounting knowledge; (f) have good communication skills and good command of written Chinese and English; and (g) be proficient in using MS Office, MS Excel and search engines and preferably have knowledge of database programming.
Terms of Appointment: Summer interns are engaged under non-civil service appointment. Employment period is from June to August 2024 (about 3 months). They are normally required to work 44 hours per week. They are eligible for rest days, statutory holidays, general holidays, and sickness days. They are subject to the Mandatory Provident Fund Scheme Ordinance (Cap. 485).

(a) Hong Kong students studying in local post-secondary institutions should apply through the Student Affairs Offices/Career Centres of their respective institutions. They are advised to note the deadlines set by the respective institutions. Direct applications from local students will not be considered. All eligible applicants MUST attend a selection interview in May 2024. NO alternative arrangements will be made for those who fail to attend the interview and their applications will NOT be further processed. Applicants who have not received a reply from the Treasury by 5 July 2024 may assume their applications are unsuccessful.
