About the role

Build AI features to enhance user experiences in customer-facing apps. Bridge product vision and technical execution via robust backend systems, data management, and server-side logic for seamless integration.

What you’ll do

• Develop AI-powered features with backend focus: APIs, data persistence, scalable services using Postgres, and integration with existing architecture.

• Enhance UX: Collaborate on interactions, optimize response times/streaming, handle errors/validation, implement logging/analytics.

• Ensure quality: Test strategies including database integrity, guardrails/safety, performance monitoring, A/B testing.

• Collaborate: Define requirements with PMs, provide feasibility input, contribute to roadmaps, apply user feedback to backend improvements.

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years software engineering, 3+ in backend.

• 2+ years AI/LLM in customer-facing apps, backend emphasis.

• Expert Node.js/TypeScript, backend tech.

• Strong Postgres experience (schema, indexing, querying).

• Shipped backend features end-to-end.

• API design, architecture, data modeling.

• Web tech and frontend integration basics.

Nice to Have

• Streaming/real-time processing.

• Vercel/Next.js or similar frameworks.

• Migration tools/ORMs (Prisma, TypeORM).

• Feature flags/rollouts/deployments.

• Data-intensive/ETL apps.

• B2C/B2B SaaS with heavy DB use.

• AI safety/privacy.

• DB optimization (query tuning, indexing).

• Cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) for scalable DB/services.

• Core: Node.js/TypeScript, Postgres, REST APIs, LLM streaming/integration, WebSockets/SSE, serverless functions.

• Product Eng: Advanced DB design/optimization, caching (Redis), auth, analytics/warehousing.

• AI: Streaming/data fetching, context/storage, multi-turn sessions, tool calling/orchestration.
