Major Duties for Lecturer:
(a) To perform teaching duties in the areas of arboriculture, tree management and urban forestry including supervision of students’ projects and fieldwork placement;
(b) To carry out duties in relation to student and academic administration;
(c) To develop programme curriculum and teaching, learning and assessment materials;
(d) To assist in the development of new services to meet the needs of the industry;
(e) To assist in validation and accreditation of programmes;
(f) To work closely with stakeholders to coordinate and support the Student Industrial Attachment Programme; and
(g) To participate in networking with industry / industrial attachments, departmental projects and functions, including but not limited to consultancy services, research studies, seminars and exhibitions.
Requirements for Lecturer:
(a) A relevant recognised degree, preferably with a post-graduate qualification;
(b) At least 3 years’ relevant teaching and / or industry experience;
(c) At least one of the below qualifications:
- Certified Arborist / Certified Arborist Municipal Specialist / Board Certified Master Arborist credential(s) of the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA);
- Technician Member, Professional Member / Fellow of the Arboricultural Association of the United Kingdom;
- European Tree Technician of the European Arboricultural Council;
- Registered Qualified Arborist, Registered Practicing Arborist, Registered Consulting Arborist / Registered Consulting and Practicing Arborist of Arboriculture Australia or equivalent;
(d) Preferably possess one or more of the below qualifications:
- ISA Certified Tree Worker Climber Specialist credential;
- Tree Risk Assessment Qualification issued by ISA / Professional Tree Inspection certificate issued by Lantra Awards of the United Kingdom or equivalent; and
(e) Good communication and presentation skills in both English and Chinese.
Notes:
1. Applicants with less experience and / or without professional qualification / credential may be considered for the post of “Assistant Lecturer” (in the rank of Teaching Associate).
2. Shortlisted candidates will be required to take a written assessment in English.
3. The initial posting is in IVE (Sha Tin). The appointee(s) may be posted to other work location(s) to suit the operational needs.
4. The appointee(s) may be required to perform duties outside normal office hours and / or on different campuses.
