Project Officer (Professional Qualifications Pathway)

Major Duties:
(a)    To develop the curriculum, teaching and learning packages, and assessment materials of the Professional Diploma Meister (PDM) programme at Hong Kong Qualifications Framework (HKQF) Level 5 for the Power Electrical Engineering field;
(b)     To actively support the accreditation of the PDM programme;
(c)     To collaborate with all stakeholders, including various operational units, the government units and industry partners for the development and implementation of the PDM programme;
(d)     To coordinate and liaise with the industry partners for effective implementation of Workplace Learning and Assessment;
(e)     To organise training for teaching staff to facilitate effective delivery of the PDM programmes;
(f)      To promote the PDM programmes to various stakeholders;
(g)     To provide academic and administrative support in the daily operation of the operational unit, meetings, events and activities;
(h)     To carry out duties deemed necessary in the Skills Master and PDM project;
(i)      To perform teaching duties and supervise student projects where necessary; and
(j)      To participate in departmental projects and functions including but not limited to consultancy services, research studies, seminars and exhibitions.
 
Requirements:
(a)     A recognised degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent, preferably with a post-graduate qualification;
(b)     At least 3 years’ relevant teaching and/or industry experience in the area of electrical engineering or related field;
(c)     Sound knowledge of the latest industry requirements for skills practitioners in the area of electrical engineering or related field;
(d)     Solid experience in programme development and administration, and implementation of quality assurance policy in the area of electrical engineering or related discipline;
(e)     Strong ability in networking with government units and industry stakeholders;
(f)      Good understanding of Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET) and HKQF;
(g)     Proactive attitude, strong initiative and high motivation for new project development;
(h)     Able to work independently as well as effectively in teams under pressure;
(i)      Good communication, presentation, administration, problem-solving and analytical skills;
(j)      Applicants would have an advantage if they possess:
      (i)     membership of relevant professional bodies and good connection with relevant trade associations;
      (ii)     a Grade C Electrical Worker registered with the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD); and/or
      (iii)    a high level of proficiency in both English and Chinese, preferably including Putonghua.
 
Notes:
(1)     The post is in the rank of Lecturer.
(2)     The post is time-limited in nature, up to 31 August 2024 initially, and the continued need for the post is subject to review.
(3)     Shortlisted candidates will be required to take a written assessment.
(4)     The appointee(s) may be required to perform duties outside normal office hours and at different work locations as assigned.
