Health and Life Sciences Discipline

Major Duties:
(a) To provide academic leadership in the programme design, curriculum planning and development, validation and accreditation of new programmes/services to meet the need of the healthcare industry;
(b) To build a strong partnership and network with industry and academic partners to facilitate programme development/activities;
(c) To reach out to stakeholders in various nursing and healthcare-related sectors, including but not limited to government departments, professional bodies and public organisations etc., and to facilitate the professional accreditation of programmes;
(d) To develop and review quality policies for the discipline / operational unit, and to be responsible for maintaining the standard and quality of the programmes;
(e) To work closely with all stakeholders, both internal and external, for the betterment of Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET);
(f) To act as Programme Leader and serve in Programme Board(s), Boards of Examiners and other academic/management committees and workgroups as required;
(g) To assist in overseeing the daily operations of the operation unit and ensure effective management of resources of the operational unit;
(h) To perform teaching duties and supervise student projects/fieldwork placement where necessary; and
(i) To participate in departmental projects and functions including but not limited to consultancy services, research studies, seminars and exhibitions.
Requirements:
(a) A recognised master degree in Nursing or health care discipline, candidates with a doctoral degree in Nursing / Education or a related discipline are highly preferred;
(b) A valid Registered Nurse (Part 1) Practicing Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Hong Kong;
(c) At least 5 years’ experience at an appropriate level of responsibility in nursing or healthcare;
(d) Solid experience in programme curriculum development, programme validation and accreditation, and an in-depth understanding of the latest regulatory requirements in nursing are highly preferred;
(e) Good track records of professional development and strong linkages with the industry, professional bodies and related groups;
(f) Good administrative, interpersonal, communication and team-building skills; and
(g) Good presentation skills and a high level of proficiency in both English and Chinese, preferably including Putonghua.
Notes:
(1) The initial posting is in IVE (Kwai Chung). The appointee(s) may be posted to other work location(s) to suit the operational needs.
(2) Applicants with substantial experience and achievements in the relevant field but without the required academic/professional qualifications OR those with exceptional academic/professional qualifications but with less experience may also apply.
(3) Shortlisted candidates will be required to take a written assessment.
(4) The appointee(s) may be required to perform duties outside normal office hours and at different work locations as assigned.
