Assistant Systems Engineer-(Non-Civil)
Job Description
(a) to manage and maintain the IT infrastructure, including but not limited to servers, virutalization platform, SAN storage, network devices such as switches, routers, etc; and
(b) to perform daily operation support duties including system administration, performance tuning, troubleshooting, capacity planning, etc.; and
(c) to monitor information security and to respond rapidly to security incidents or breaches; and
(d) to maintain and support IT security systems and controls to ensure compliance with HKSAR Government security standards; and
(e) to support information security activities e.g. logs review, incident response drill, security awareness training, etc.; and
(f) to support IT security assessment and compliance audit; and
(g) to manage ad-hoc projects for new system implementation and enhancement to existing systems; and
(h) to manage the performance of contractors; and
(i) to assist in managing the system support team for providing system support services for internal and external users; and to monitor and optimize system performance; and
(j) to design maintenance and support procedures, to prepare technical and end-user documentation; and
(k) to provide training to end-users; and
(l) to execute relevant IT policies and perform other IT-related duties; and
(m) may be required to work overnight, on Saturdays, Sundays, public holidays and irregular hours, and to work in inclement weather such as during typhoon and black rainstorm.
Successful candidate is required to assume duty at short notice and is subject to deployment to any offices of 1823 in any district of Hong Kong.

Requirements
Candidate should have -
(a)(i) a Hong Kong degree in Information Technology, Information System, Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent, and 2 years’ full-time working experience in network infrastructure and information security support and management*, or
(ii) a Hong Kong accredited Diploma or High Certificate in Information Technology, Information System, Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent, and 5 years’ post qualification full-time working experiences in network infrastructure and information security support and management*; and
(b) valid certification of VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virualization (VCP – DCV) is a plus; and
(c) holder of CCNA/CISA/CISSP or relevant certification is a plus; and
(d) knowledge and experience in network security, disaster recovery planning (DRP) and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) is a plus; and
(e) good command of spoken English and Cantonese; and
(f) good communication, inter-personal and analytical skills.
*Working experience in network infrastructure and information security support and management refers to any of the following:
1. Administration of security appliances and software, e.g. Next-Generation Firewall (Palo Alto/ Juniper/ Fortinet), Endpoints (Carbon Black/Forescout), Anti-virus(McAfee), Proxy Server (Forcepoint) and Email gateway (Ironport/Trend Micro) etc.;
2. Setup and management of VPN (Pulse Secure/Fortinet);
3. Support, setup and networking of L2/L3 layer network switches;
4. Administration of Linux/Windows server (including installation, hardening and patching);
5. Windows and Microsoft products deployment (MDT and SCCM);
6. Administration of Windows Active Directory with hands-on experience in Group Policy administration;
7. Administration of email server (Microsoft Exchange);
8. Administration of blade servers (HPE Blade Server);
9. Storage management covering SAN, Flash and NAS; and
10. Administration of VMware EXSI and vCenter 6.5 or above.

Note: (1) “Attained with Distinction” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade C in Other Language subjects in the HKDSEE are accepted as equivalent to Level 3 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in the HKDSEE. “Attained” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of two Applied Learning subjects), and Grade E in Other Language subjects in the HKDSEE are accepted as equivalent to Level 2 in the New Senior Secondary subjects in the HKDSEE.
(2) ‘Grade C’ and ‘Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 3’ and ‘Level 2’ respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.

Terms of Appointment: Successful candidate will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for a period of one year.
Remuneration
Salary: $31,870 per month

Fringe Benefits (a) Upon satisfactory completion of the full contract period, a gratuity may be granted to the appointee who has consistently achieved a high standard of performance of conduct. The amount will be the sum which, when added to Government’s contribution to the Mandatory Provident Fund Scheme as required by the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Ordinance (Cap. 485), will not exceed 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.
(b) Rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), annual leave, maternity leave, paternity leave, sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted in accordance with the Employment Ordinance. Appointees will be entitled to paid annual leave of ten days. Not more than four additional days of annual leave will also be granted to appointees with satisfactory performance.
