Project Fellow (Ref. 21082604) [Appointment period: twelve months initially, with possibility of further appointment]


The appointee will assist the project leader in the research project - “Supporting ethnic minority early primary students for smooth transition and social integration”.  He/She will be required to:

(a)    manage the project by taking a leading role in designing, developing and implementing different kinds of learning support activities for partner schools;

(b)    take a leading role in the collection and analysis of data, and dissemination of research results as well as project outcomes;

(c)    manage a team of school-based development officers to conduct learning support activities in the partner schools;

(d)    manage the budget of the project; and

(e)    perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader or his/her delegates.

The appointee may be required to work outside normal office hours, including Saturdays and Sundays, and will constantly be required to work outside the campus.


Applicants should:

(a)    have a doctoral degree in Chinese Language & Literature, Chinese Linguistics, Teaching Chinese as a Second Language or Second Language Acquisition with solid knowledge of the Chinese language;

(b)    have a local Teacher’s certificate or postgraduate diploma / certificate in Education;

(c)    have at least five years’ postdoctoral working experience in the education field, either as front-line teacher, or as curriculum / learning material developer;

(d)    have substantial experience in managing educational activities and conducting education research;

(e)    have good leadership and interpersonal skills; and

(f)    be passionate in teaching, children-friendly, organised, patient and detail-minded.

Preference will be given to those with knowledge of and experience in educational technology and media, designing curriculum and instruction, and development of multimedia Chinese language learning materials.
