Engineer I (2-Year Contract) [Ref: CLPP-PSBG-TSD-TB-EI]

Applications are invited for the vacancies in the Telecommunications Branch of Technical Services Department in Power Systems Business Group.  Reporting to respective team managers, the appointees will lead a team of engineers to support the growth and operations of the in-house Telecommunications Networks and Services of the Company.

 

Major Duties include:

  • Manage the in-house communications networks covering the full spectrum of technologies including fibre optic, transmission & multiplexing, microwave, LAN/WAN, PABX, TETRA and other radio networks for power system operations
  • Liaise and co-ordinate with various departments to deliver telecommunications services/projects to fulfil the customers’ needs
  • Team lead to monitor the restoration of telecommunications services upon user requests, equipment fault and system upgrade and migration
  • Team lead to plan and perform network operation and maintenance works to achieve the KPI target of telecommunications system availability
  • Plan and schedule routine maintenance, including cyber-security vulnerability scans and fixes, of aforementioned telecommunications systems and the auxiliary systems and facilities
  • Ensure staff / contractors are fully complied with the Company's Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality (HSSEQ) requirements and drive for continuous improvement on safety
  • Perform duties during typhoon periods, adverse weather conditions, and non-office hours as required

 

Requirements:

  • A recognized university degree in Telecommunications or Electronic Engineering or equivalent
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the planning & design, project management, installation & commissioning, operation & maintenance of telecommunications systems, with proven experience in leading teams for the provision and operation of telecommunications services
  • MHKIE or equivalent would be an advantage
  • Solid experiences in designing, maintaining and operating in large-scale Data Networking and PABX
  • In-depth knowledge in TCP/IP Networking and Routing, LAN/WAN architecture, OSPF, BGP and MPLS
  • Ability to work under pressure and be rational and decisive under all situations
  • Ability to manage and mobilize resources in the most cost effective and efficient manner
  • Mindful and possess good safety awareness
  • Ability to communicate effectively with different levels, both internally and externally
  • Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese
  • Good interpersonal, negotiation, managerial and leadership skills
  • Holder of CCNP/CCIE or equivalent would be an advantage
  • Valid driving license Class 1 would be an advantage
