Programmer (GIS, Spatial Data)

Job Duties:

  • Design, analyze and be involved in the development processes and maintenance of spatial data platform including:
  • Design, analyze, review and be involved in the development of large scale spatial data dissemination platform riding on cloud environment;
  • Validate application flow design, check and monitor coding quality and verify bug fixing performed by Contractors;
  • Handling and streamlining the conversion workflow between multiple spatial data formats;
  • Design and implement interfacing between the spatial data platform and external systems to streamline the work and smoothen data sharing and exchange;
  • Identify and rectify spatial data issues during functional testing, system integration testing, and support user acceptance test;
  • Review, comment and revise technical project documents to enhance the quality of project deliverables;
  • Prepare and maintain program documentation (e.g. data and function specifications, etc.) to support system enhancement and bug fixing;
  • Prepare project reports and specifications;
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job Requirement:

  • Degree holder in Computer Science, Information Engineering, Information Technology, Geo-informatics, Geomatics Engineering, Geographic Information Science, or equivalent
  • Solid knowledge and experience in system design, implementation, and documentation of web applications development
  • Have at least 3 years post qualification information technology experience of which 2 years in the similar capacity
  • At least 2 years hands-on experience in web programming, JavaScript Programming or Python Programming is essential
  • At least 1 year hands-on experience in commercial or open-source Geographic Information System
  • Hands-on experience in working with GIS data modelling and spatial data conversion is a plus
  • Possess strong sense of analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good command of both spoken and written Chinese and English
