Duties
The appointee will be assigned to work in the User Support Services Section and be required to:
(a) provide technical support and assistance to the University’s staff, students, users and clients at the IT Help Centre via hotlines, on-site on-campus and off-campus and other established channels;
(b) install, maintain and troubleshoot various computer systems, including desktop equipment and software, in particular to PCs, Mac, mobile/tablet devices, Microsoft O365, Microsoft Office and other popular software;
(c) liaise with staff, students, users and other parties to solve users’ IT-related problems;
(d) perform evaluation, implementation, administration, review and enhancement of the new systems;
(e) prepare user guides and training materials, and conduct user training demonstrations and workshops;
(f) work on shift and provide support on a roster basis, as required; and
(g) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of the Office or his delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
(a) a recognised degree OR a higher diploma or diploma with a minimum of three years of relevant experience;
(b) relevant working experience in IT technical support, helpdesk or user support, preferably with hands-on experience in Computer/operating system, Microsoft 365/Office Apps and Active Directory;
(c) strong problem-solving skills, the capability to work independently and proactively, enthusiasm about new technology and the ability to learn new skills quickly; and
(d) a good customer centric-attitude, good communication and interpersonal skills, and proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese, including Mandarin.
Preference will be given to those with solid experience in supporting IT services (helpdesk support, Microsoft O365 or Azure AD) in tertiary institutions.
Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
Applicant with less experience will be considered for the post of Assistant Specialist.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
