Duties
The appointee will be assigned to work in the Administrative Application Services Section and be responsible for the development, implementation and support of the administrative systems of the University. He/She will be required to:
(a) lead a project team in the design, development, testing, maintenance and support of administrative applications for units of the University;
(b) oversee and manage the technological needs to fulfill the business requirement and technical solution feasibility;
(c) monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues, work with network, infrastructure and service section on technical issues;
(d) assist the supervisor in the planning, technical evaluation and implementation of system development tools and methodology, particularly on adopting new technology to revitalize legacy system; and
(e) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Office or his delegates.
Qualifications
Applicants should:
(a) have a recognised degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline;
(b) have at least seven years of solid working experience in systems analysis and design, and development of application systems;
(c) have substantial experience in the implementation of applications using Oracle RDBMS 19c, Java (Java EE, EJB, Spring, JSF, JPA), WebSphere Application Server and UNIX platform;
(d) have experience in the development of application Restful API over NodeJs and Container environment, preferably with knowledge of JavaScript library/framework (e.g. NextJs, ReactJs, NestJs, ExpressJs, NodeJs);
(e) have experience in Hybrid server (On-premise and Microsoft Azure Cloud) platform configurations and optimization of server performance to support peak operations;
(f) have knowledge of/experience in AI development and assistant tools, LLM from cloud services (e.g. Azure Open AI, GPT-4o, Qwen2-VL) and vectorization in RAG as development solutions would be considered a significant asset;
(g) have experience in supporting public-facing mission critical application, focusing on system performance and tuning, along with conducting unit and load tests;
(h) have experience in the application integration with Azure Active Directory, and enablement of application Single-Sign-On and Multi-Factor Authentication features;
(i) have strong analytical skills, good interpersonal and communication skills to work with users at different levels;
(j) have proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese, preferably with fluency in Putonghua; and
(k) be proactive and be able to work under pressure.
Preference will be given to those with substantial experience in developing and implementing administrative systems using short cycle of development methodology.
Conditions of Service
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
