We are seeking a Senior Construction Innovation Engineer to drive the hands‑on implementation of emerging construction technologies at Gammon. This role bridges IT and engineering with a focus on robotics, IoT devices, sensors, data integration, and 4S (Site Safety System) solutions, delivering practical digital tools that enhance safety, productivity, and sustainability across our projects.

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical advisory on construction robotics, IoT sensors, 4S systems, and related technologies; assess site needs and propose fit for purpose solutions for operations, safety, and productivity;
• Lead end to end pilots and deployments of construction technology (from ideation, PoC, and trials through rollout), working closely with project teams, IT, vendors, and key external partners;
• Act as Solution in Charge (SIC) for assigned divisions, overseeing detailed design, procurement, installation, configuration, testing, and handover of construction technology solutions, ensuring compliance with 4S and relevant regulations;
• Configure and support network and connectivity for deployed systems, including LAN/WAN setup, wireless links, and integration with corporate systems and cloud platforms where appropriate;
• Develop and execute test plans; conduct on site troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and optimization of hardware, firmware, and connectivity issues for robotics and IoT solutions;
• Prepare and deliver clear, practical demos and presentations to top management, project teams, and external stakeholders, explaining technical concepts and field learnings in business impact terms;
• Collaborate with implementation specialists in technology scouting and trials; provide mentoring and guidance to junior engineers on evaluation, configuration, and site support;
• Collect, clean, and analyse operational and sensor/IoT data (e.g. via Excel or SQL) to measure performance, quantify benefits (e.g. productivity uplift, near miss reduction), and recommend improvements or scale up decisions.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline;
• At least 8 years of experience in construction technology or similar industrial environments, with hands‑on experience in electrical systems, IoT devices, sensors, and site safety systems (including 4S implementations);
• Strong technical skills in:

1. Network setup/troubleshooting (LAN/WAN, routing, security).
2. Wireless protocols (Wi-Fi, LoRa, Zigbee).
3. API integration (devices, gateways, enterprise systems).
4. Data analysis (Excel/SQL for IoT data).

• Excellent problem‑solving and analytical ability to resolve technical issues in complex site environments;
• Strong communication and presentation skills; able to work confidently with site teams, vendors, and senior stakeholders;
• Willingness to visit construction sites regularly;
• Familiarity with Hong Kong construction practices, CIC guidelines, and safety ordinances is a strong advantage;
• Experience in AEC digital transformation projects (e.g. robotics, real‑time monitoring, or smart site technologies) is preferred;
• Knowledge of agile implementation methods such as pilots, sprints, and iterative rollouts is an asset.
