ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To assist the Art teacher with her/his responsibilities through helping with class organisation, discipline, and hands on activities. This includes the following as well as other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the Head of department.
It will be necessary for the teaching assistant to be in the department at all times to be on hand to assist with current lessons.
CURRICULUM PLANNING
Prepare instructional materials needed to implement the daily classes.
Rotate between the 3 classrooms for both the preparation work and in assisting with current lessons.
Closely liaise with the Art teachers to ensure he/she is in the lesson at the most appropriate time.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor the flow of stock and order replacement at the appropriate times
General involvement in Art display/ Exhibition – Help with trimming, mounting, hanging, dismantling, loading/unloading truck, storage of exam work
Observe safety hazards ensuring that rules are observed by children.
Prepare materials and equipment for smooth running of classes and replenish materials as needed within classrooms.
Assist basic digital photography of artwork and essentially organising and storage of art images to create an archive
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Be organized, creative, independent and self-motivated, enthusiastic, dependable, detail-oriented, flexible in scheduling and prioritisation, and driven by excellence.
• Must possess good communication skills.
• Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective relationships; demonstrated ability to communicate in situations requiring tact and poise; skilled in confidentiality and discretion.
• Must present a neat, professional appearance.
• Must be able to adjust tasks and focus with composure, and in accordance with changing deadlines and priorities.
• Requires sometimes to work under pressure with tight deadlines
• Must be IT literate, with good command of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign or equivalent.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor degree in visual art or related disciplines
Diploma holder with at least 2 years’ experience in a secondary school will also be considered, with preference given to person with experience in photography and digital art.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
• Must be English/ Chinese speaker with good verbal and writing skills.
